The life of a nursing student explored in Finlandia Fridays

Organization Responds with ROI Report on Economic Contributions, Academic Leadership

Michigan’s Independent Colleges and Universities (MICU) today released a major report on the economic footprint of its members, showing a wealth of contributions to the state’s prosperity, knowledge and culture.

Table Tennis Tournament brings back youthful memories for President Johnson

President Philip Johnson has a long history with table tennis, as he has been playing since grade school. He grew up with four older sisters, and a ping pong table always in the basement.

“My sister, Beth, was the one closest to me in age, and the one that I played the most. She was the most competitive,” President Johnson explained. “We used to play all the time growing up.”

New hire brings unique experience and passion to Maki Library

Finlandia University is honored to welcome Airen Campbell-Olszewski to the university’s family. Campbell-Olszewski takes the role of an Assistant Librarian at Sulo and Aileen Maki Library.

“Having grew up in Houghton, I’ve always had a passion for the history of the area,” Campbell-Olszewski expressed. “I’m looking forward to connecting and sharing my passion with the students and staff here at Finlandia.”

Applications now being accepted for Virginia Fund Scholarship

Freshman women at Finlandia University have a unique opportunity to receive a scholarship that can be used during the 2017-18 academic year in the Virginia Fund Scholarship. Applications are now being accepted. They are due by March 10.

Apply Now

The scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement and contribution to campus life. Applications will be reviewed by the Academic Achievement Committee. Students of all majors are invited to apply.

Cap & Gown Fitting is February 20-25 at North Wind Books

As the semester draws along, we’re inching ever closer to commencement 2017. To help graduates prepare for that, North Wind Books is hosting cap and gown fitting for December 2016, Spring 2017 and Summer 2017 graduates. Fitting will be Monday, February 20 through Saturday, February 25 during regular business hours (M-F 10-6, Sat. 10-4) at North Wind Books. There is NO CHARGE for graduation attire if fitted during this time period.

Dial Help providing on-site services to FinnU students and employees

Weekly on-campus availability on Monday afternoons

Students at Finlandia University seeking assistance through a traumatic event are now able to get that service right on Finlandia’s campus as Dial Help’s Sexual Assault Service Coordinator Peggy Sullivan will be on campus each Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. Sullivan can be found in Mannerheim 124, near the Registrar’s Office.

The Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA) is an exciting study abroad opportunity for Finlandia students with programs in the summer, fall and spring semesters. A consortium between a number of collaborating universities across the U.S., CCSA allows students from smaller universities to experience faculty-led study abroad by sharing resources and connections between schools.
