Lisa Johnson joins Academic and Student Affairs staff

Finlandia University is pleased to welcome Lisa Johnson to the position of Administrative Assistant for Academic and Student Affairs. In her new role, Johnson will work closely with both the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the university’s Dean of Students & Enrollment.

“I am so excited that Lisa has joined our Academic and Student Affairs team this year,” said Dr. Fredi DeYampert, VP Academic Affairs. “Lisa brings an energy and positive spirit to everything she does and everyone she meets. She comes to us from both the higher and secondary education arenas. Her vast educational experience is a gain for us all.”

A lifetime Upper Peninsula native, Johnson brings with her almost 20 years of experience in academia in the Houghton Country area.

“The university setting has always been perfect for me,” said Johnson. “I love the close knit community here at Finlandia. It feels like family.”

Finlandia prides itself on being a welcoming university where small really is beautiful.

“Being at a smaller place and being able to get to know the students, has been really fun,” said Johnson. “The feeling of community really is unique to this institution.”

Johnson has hit the ground running with the academic year beginning just a few weeks ago.

“I’ve enjoyed being involved in things like orientation and getting ready for Byron Hurt [link] to visit campus,” said Johnson. “It’s been fast moving, and I love that.”
