Welcome Finlandia Family Members,
I would like to take a minute to introduce myself, my name is Curtis Wittenberg and I am the Director of Athletics here at Finlandia University. While I have only been the Director of Athletics for a short time, I have been part of Finlandia Athletics since 2003.
At Finlandia University, we believe that intercollegiate athletics should promote the character development of participants, enhance the integrity of higher education and promote civility in society. Toward these ends, we strive to adhere to fundamental values such as respect, civility, honesty and responsibility. Student-athletes and staff at Finlandia University are always expected to operate with the principles of sportsmanship and ethical conduct in mind.
We value our affiliation with the NCAA and subscribe to the rules and principles outlined by the association in the administration of our sport programs, as well as in our recruitment and financial aid packaging of student-athletes.
We also value our affiliation with our sports conferences, the American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA), Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA), City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), and starting next year for football, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).
I look forward to meeting those of you that have the opportunity to attend one of our home competitions. For those that can’t, we offer opportunities to watch live video streams through our website and new this year, select Finlandia home games will be broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.
It’s been an exciting year so far, and I’m looking forward to where the future will take us. Thank you and GO LIONS!
