Nathan Ekdahl joins medical assistant program as instructor

Finlandia University’s Medical Assistant Program welcomed back a familiar face this fall as alumnus Nathan Ekdahl came back to the program to serve as an instructor and practicum coordinator.

“I wanted to join Finlandia University to continue to help others further their education,” said Ekdahl, an advocate for the healthcare profession. “A career in healthcare will always be needed as our population ages. I’m excited to start my journey here at FinnU.”

A campus-wide invitation to let your light shine bright this Saturday

Finlandia Wellness Committee is excited to announce the first campus community event of the 2017-18 academic year!

Finlandia University employees and students are invited to join Team FinnU at Light the Night Fun Run/Walk, a fun 5k and family-friendly 1k event in Laurium. The event is held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 16.

Lincoln now serving as Academic Coach/Personal Counselor at Finlandia University

With the new school year comes a new face in Finlandia’s Nikander Hall as Zoe Lincoln has been introduced as an Academic Coach/Personal Counselor in TRIO Student Support Services.

Employees invited to get new professional portrait on Wednesday, August 23

Finlandia University employees are invited to have a new professional portrait taken on Wednesday, August 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Finlandia Hall. New employees and those who have not had a professional portrait taken to this point are especially encouraged to attend, but all employees are invited. The event will feature professional photographer Jillian Sarazin. No RSVP is required.

Pam Brown to lead PTA program at Finlandia University

Highly educated and experienced physical therapist comes to Hancock from Newberry

Finlandia University’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program is now being led by experienced physical therapist Pam Brown, PT, MPT, CIMT. Brown, who is serving as PTA Program Director & Assistant Professor, began at the university in May and will begin teaching courses during the fall semester.

Volunteers wanted to help at McAfee Field on June 23

The Finlandia University Athletic Department’s Beautification Committee is seeking alumni, students, staff, faculty and community members to help at McAfee Field on Friday, June 23 starting at 9 a.m.

All invited to help with Campus Clean-Up on April 19

Finlandia University invites all student, faculty, staff and alumni to our annual Campus Clean-Up on Wednesday, April 19, from 3 to 5 p.m. Please bring your own rake and push broom from home to help spruce up campus before graduation. Volunteers will meet in front of Finlandia Hall at 3 p.m. and disperse on varies tasks from there.

Employees offered 20 percent discount on golf membership

Finlandia University employees are eligible for a discounted rate at Portage Lake Golf Course for the 2017 season. The course, which is located in Houghton, is offering a discounted rate for memberships of $580, the usual rate is $725 – that is a 20 percent savings. Volunteers wanted for CopperDog 150

The CopperDog 150 is less than two weeks away, and the dogsled race in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula is seeking volunteers. The race is a perfect opportunity for teams and groups to get together, but there are also dozens of opportunities for individuals and families to participate. Finlandia is proud to be a sponsor of the event once again in 2017.
