Alumnus Ethan St. Germain joins Finance Department

Ethan St. Germain (’21) joined Finlandia’s Finance Department as an accountant in Spring 2022. St. Germain started his accounting career as a student-intern and work-study with the Finance Department during his junior year. 

“After graduation I worked for a cultivation and retail company. It was a vertically integrated rather new company called Ottawa Innovations/Higher Love. Being a new company in a new industry was very exciting, fast paced, and really helped me build my skills and gain experience in a broad range of finance and accounting,” St. Germain said.

While at Finlandia, St. Germain also played ice hockey for the Lions. Reflecting on his time at FinnU, St. Germain said he met many great people including classmates, faculty and teammates. He even met his wife, who also graduated from FinnU in 2020 with a degree in nursing. One of his mentors during his student internship is now his supervisor, Cyril FoxPetrov.

“One of the quotes I try to live by is putting pride into everything you do, which can be translated whether at work, home improvements, or sports. Finlandia did so much for me personally and educationally so I am very proud to be a part of this institution and do my best for it,” St. Germain said. “I feel like Finlandia really started my career and family so now that I’m back working here I feel very blessed.”

When it comes to free time St. Germain says he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, their puppy, house, friends and everything in between. His family time often consists of movie nights that may involve their favorite series, Transformers or Avengers. If the weather is nice, St. Germain enjoys fishing, Jeeping, playing golf and simply enjoying the great outdoors of the U.P.
