Alumna Kailee Laplander (’12) to talk Liberal Arts and dream jobs in first Taste of Success

Kailee Laplander Taste of SuccessFinlandia University is excited to announce the launch of a new alumni speaker series, A Taste of Success. The series will feature alumni of Finlandia and Suomi College as they talk about their college experience and accomplishments since graduating. The first Taste of Success will feature alumna Kailee Laplander (‘12), who graduated with a degree in Liberal Arts. Laplander is currently the Coordinator for TRIO Pre-College Programs. Her discussion will focus on how she used her degree in liberal arts to secure her dream job.

Students, employees and friends are welcome to attend the free event on Tuesday, March 5 at noon in Mannerheim Central. Lunch will not be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own lunch. The talk will be informal followed by a Q&A session.

About Kailee Laplander

Laplander joined the TRIO Pre-College team in the fall of 2014 as a TRIO-Talent Search Academic Coordinator. After earning her Bachelor’s degree she spent a year as a Mentor Michigan College Coaching Corps member. Her previous work experience includes customer service, office management and social work.  In her spare time, Laplander enjoys exploring the Keweenaw, reading and collecting music of all kids. Her favorite part of her job is watching students discover the value of themselves and their education.

TRIO Pre-College Programs, TRIO Talent Search & TRIO Upward Bound, are community based programs focused on helping middle and high school students be successful and prepare for college. TRIO Pre College Programs exists to empower potential first-generation students and/or students from low-income homes to be successful in high school and prepare for college.
