In a normal year there is an induction ceremony on campus, but this year was held online and hosted by the national organization for all inductees across the country. 76 Finlandia students have been inducted into the National ALD since 2015 including the following 14 remarkable additions.
Abby Dawson, Austin Keranen, Caleb Gregoire, Cassandra Troy, Gavin Mackey, Jari Juntti, John Brundage, Joshua Kego, Logan Latvis, Mary Mills, Mary Wiggins, Miguel Gonzalez, Stephanie Ollila, and Tyler Hale.
Three new officers have also been announced for 2021-2022.
Introducing ALD’s new chapter president Kylee Hopp:
“Hello All! My name is Kylee Hopp and I am the new chapter president for Alpha Lambda Delta! I am currently a sophomore majoring in Nursing and minoring in Psychology. I truly enjoy all of the facets of volunteering within the community and lending a helping hand, which is what really inspired me to apply for this role. I am beyond excited to lead the profound individuals we have amongst the Finland Community and make a difference along the way!”
Malone Hiebert, new ALD senior advisor:
“Hi everyone! My name is Malone Hiebert and I am from Portland, Oregon. I will be a senior in the nursing program next fall. My favorite activities to do back home include surfing, hiking, snowboarding and being at the beach. I came to Finlandia to play hockey but since then, I have played cross country, volleyball and now softball for the school. My future goal is to move back home and start a nursing career in the labor and delivery department. My vision for the ALD chapter is to provide a safe environment for leaders to develop life skills.”
Stephanie Ollila, new ALD historian:
“I’m Stephanie Ollila and I’m a freshman majoring in Graphic Design. I enjoy playing music and painting. I took on the role of Historian because I love arts and crafts, and photography.”

Finlandia’s Instructor of Accounting & Interim CFO Laura Sieders presides over the ALD chapter as faculty advisor. Beside her, Finlandia’s Director of Career Services Emma Dorst serves as ALD staff advisor.
“I am so impressed with our students’ ability to remain motivated and achieve their academic goals during this year full of so many challenges. The Finlandia ALD chapter is looking forward to hosting community events and campus activities in the fall, and to welcoming the next year’s inductees!” Dorst said.
At Finlandia University’s 2021 spring commencement ceremony, the six graduating ALD members were designated with a special cord as well as a notation in the commencement program. There are 30 Finlandia ALD members returning for the upcoming school year which will see the chapter’s sixth anniversary come October 2021. As a friendly reminder, pins and certificates for all inductees are available for pick-up at the CVC (Nikander room 15). Finlandia congratulates the following ALD seniors on their graduation!
