160 students and employees volunteer during MLK Day of Service

Students pose for a photo at Barkell Elementary in Hancock after reading to students as part of FinnU’s third annual MLK Day of Service.
The third annual Day of Service in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was well attended from start to finish, including 160 students and employees getting out into the community at 16 service sites, a great community gathering for lunch at Finlandia Hall that included serving more than 100 meals than usual, and a well-attended ceremony at Chapel of St. Matthew Sunday night that kicked it all off.
“We know that Martin Luther king is one of the best leaders in the world, even today after his death,” student Dare Mayomi, told WJMN TV while at Houghton Elementary School. “It’s really good that we use his ideas and ideology so that we can continue to bring the idea of peace and equality into everyone.”
