Women’s Soccer Earns ACAA Conference Tournament Runner Up

On the 100th episode of Finlandia Fridays host Olivia Myers catches up with Head Women’s Soccer Coach, Grace Sokolow.  Sokolow makes her second appearance on the show this season with great news from the teams recent visit to California for the ACAA Conference Tournament.

Sokolow in her first year as head coach of the women’s soccer program, “I came in and I had pretty managed expectations. We are looking to build something and we managed to get a little bit further than I thought we would in year one,” said Sokolow. “We accomplished a lot of our goals and we exceeded a lot of our goals and we’ve set a foundation for the next few years.”

The two continue to talk about the once in a lifetime opportunity for team members, the tournament and the growth of the team. “I think the difference between the beginning of the season and now is the trust in each other,” said Sokolow. “Were less concerned about individual states and more concerned about getting it done as a team.”  Even with the teams hard work as a group, many of the players did receive individual ACAA honors.

Myers and Sokolow closed the conversations with Sokolow’s philosophy of recruiting for next season and this years Diversity Dinner. The annual Diversity Dinner will be held on Wednesday, November 13 at 5 p.m.
