This fall Assistant Registrar Tracy Henderson joined the Registrar’s Practice Committee, part of the larger Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (MACRAO). MACRAO is for the exchange of information between registrars and admissions officers in order to contribute to the advancement of education in the state of Michigan.
“I thought the membership would give me a network of other institutions and registrars that I would be able to learn from,” said Henderson.
As a member of MACRAO, Finlandia and Henderson have voting rights within the membership and are able to participate in the Michigan Transfer Network.
For Henderson, joining was important because she wanted to be involved and stay current with the best practices. MACRAO has several statewide committees and the Registrar’s Practices Committee seemed like the best fit. Being a member keeps Henderson and the University on the forefront of networking, professional development, any state laws or change that take place in regards to the registrar’s office.
“Most importantly, the membership puts Finlandia out there,” said Henderson. “It gives us exposure and recognition.”
