Parade of Nations updates route for 2021

The annual Parade of Nations will take place this Saturday, September 18, starting at 11 a.m. at the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce, across from the miner’s statue in Houghton. The Parade will head down the hill to Lakeshore Drive, past Dee Stadium and follow Lakeshore Drive past Bridgeview Park, ending at Kestner Park. It will not go through downtown Houghton this year.

Parade of Nations announced for Sept. 18


Michigan Technological University and Finlandia University invite you to join us in celebrating the 32nd annual Parade of Nations, on September 18, 2021. Come celebrate the cultural diversity of the Keweenaw region!

The parade will start at 11:00 am. Due to the ongoing construction in town, the parade route will be different this year. It will start at Franklin Square in Houghton, go through downtown, and finish at Kestner Park.

Parade of Nations Scavenger Hunt registration deadline August 23

The Parade of Nations will be held on Saturday, September 18, beginning from Quincy Green at 11 a.m. and ending near the Chamber of Commerce in Houghton. This year, the Parade of Nations community-wide event will include a parade of participants, floats and flags from around the world. Although there will not be a Multicultural Festival this year, PON is hosting its first ever Scavenger Hunt and they are seeking volunteers from Finlandia’s community! Parade of Nations Parade: 30 Years of Bridging Cultures

The Parade of Nations strives to promote worldwide culture and national awareness in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula through a community-wide annual event that includes a parade and a multicultural festival.

The parade begins at 11 a.m., making its way through Hancock across the Portage Lake Lift Bridge to Houghton. There’s a float contest featuring $600 in cash prizes. Everyone is invited to march with their country.
