Esports win 2022 Valorant National Championship

It was a dominating performance as the Finlandia University Esports team for Valorant (9-7) beat British Columbia Marine (14-1) 3-0 (13-3, 13-7, 13-2) for the NECC National Championship in the Navigators Division.

This is the first national championship for the Esports program, which finished their second season. It’s the third national title for Lions athletics, the first in 18 years.

Breaking the Stigma with the NCAA Mental Health Awareness Week

May is Mental Health Awareness month, an opportunity to speak up and help “Break the Stigma” surrounding the topic. On this week’s episode of Finlandia Fridays, host Anastazia Hartman is joined by Sports Information Director, Mike Bond to discuss the NCAA Mental Health Awareness Week.

FinnU and Suomi alumni eligible for discounted Paavo Nurmi membership

Finlandia University and Suomi College alumni can take advantage of a 30 percent discount on an annual membership for the Paavo Nurmi Strength and Fitness Center. The cost, usually $260 for community members, is only $200 for alumni for an annual membership. The full breakdown can be seen in the chart below. Michael Bond hired as Sports Information Director at Finlandia University

Finlandia University has hired Michael Bond to the role of Sports Information Director. Bond has 26 years of experiences in the sports management field, including most recently helping out at University of Detroit Mercy and Concordia University Ann Arbor.
