Borgen, Seppinen featured in videos about Finns living in the UP

Finlandia staff member, Nata Borgen, and international business student, Santeri Seppinen, were recently featured as subjects of two short videos on Finns living in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The videos are promotional pieces for Finnzone and are part of Finnzone’s strategy for attracting Finnish companies to the Keweenaw. Tickets Now Available for Finnish Bluegrass-Rockers Steve ‘n’ Seagulls

Tickets are now available for purchase for the Finnish bluegrass-rockers Steve ‘n’ Seagulls concert, which will take place Wednesday, September 4 at the Rosza Center of Performing Arts. Tickets are being sold for $25 each and can be purchased through the Rosza Center’s website or by calling (906) 487-2073.

Finnish Bluegrass-Rockers Steve n Seagulls Returning to the Keweenaw on September 4

Finnish bluegrass-rockers Steve ‘n’ Seagulls will be making a return visit to the Keweenaw with a concert at the Rosza Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, September 4. Tickets will be on sale Monday, July 1 for the high-energy band that performs bluegrass versions of well-known rock and metal songs from a decidedly Finnish perspective.

Last year’s show thrilled the audience at the Rosza and September 4th is guaranteed to do the same.

Finlandia University Student Nurses Take Part in Free Skin Cancer Screening Event May 25

 

Finlandia University campus welcomes dermatologist, Dr. Milton Soderberg and staff to campus on Saturday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Finnish American Heritage Center.

Soderberg will be working with Hannah Wilson, PA-C, and Jordan Brooks, MD as well as the Finlandia student nurses to conduct free screenings for skin cancer.

Chairman of the Board for Finnish company Ponsse presenting at Finlandia on February 13

Finlandia University is thrilled to welcome Juha Vidgren, Chairman of the Board, Ponsse PIc,, to campus. Vidgren has been on the board of Ponsse since 2000, and with the company since 1998.

Vidgren will be giving a presentation at the Finnish American Heritage Center on Wednesday, February 13 at 3 p.m. The presentation, titled How a one man operation in rural Finland became a global leader, will center around the idea of what anyone can accomplish if they apply themselves.
