The Mobile Food Pantry is Back at the Chapel on Dec. 3

On Thursday, December 3, Finlandia University will be hosting another Mobile Food Pantry in the parking lot between Old Main and the Chapel of St. Mattew. Organized through Feeding American West Michigan, mobile food pantries help fill the gap in hunger needs in a community, by supplementing the ongoing work of local pantries with much needed fresh produce, meat, and dairy. Feeding America West Michigan and Finlandia University to Host Mobile Food Pantry on October 10

On October 10, Feeding America West Michigan,in partnership with Finlandia University, will provide a food distribution to people in need at Baraga Area High School. The distribution will take place at 4:30 p.m.

NOTE: The event has been moved inside to the small gym. Volunteers will enter the school by the flag pole. Those coming to get food should follow volunteer instruction upon arriving at the school.

Geri Hawley explains why Physical Therapist Assistant is a great degree option

Geri Hawley, an instructor in the Physical Therapists Assistant (PTA) program, stopped by Finlandia Fridays this week to discuss the PTA degree offered at Finlandia. “We are designed to prepare students to go out into the clinical field and work with patients under a physical therapist to be able to treat patients and get them better in any pathology they have,” stated Hawley. Mobile Food Pantry coming to Ontonagon on April 19, 2018

Residents of Ontonagon County are invited to a Mobile Food Pantry on Thursday, April 19 beginning at 4 at Ontonagon High School. The event is being put on by Finlandia University, Ontonagon Area School District, Feeding America West Michigan and the Western U.P. Food Bank.

Feeding America and Finlandia’s The Table Distribute 16,000 pounds of food

They were bundled up in warm clothes on a frigid fall day with empty boxes in hand, waiting to be filled with food.

On September 18th, Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank (Feeding America), Campus Ministries’ The Table, and over 70 of Finlandia’s students volunteered to serve 16,000 pounds of food to 1,100 community members.
