Finnish bluegrass-rockers Steve ‘n’ Seagulls will be returning to the Rozsa Center to kick off Finlandia’s Festival Ruska on September 4 at 7pm. Their unique blend of bluegrass and hard rock classics by AC/DC, Guns and Roses, Metallica and others has made them a hit on both sides of the Atlantic. The band’s version of “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC has been especially popular, clocking in over 87 million views on YouTube. Their last visit to the Rozsa in September of 2018 rocked the crowd of nearly 600.
During their visit last September, the band filmed the video for their rendition of “House of the Rising Sun“ at the Quincy Smelter and Redridge Dam. Plans are in the works for another video shoot in the Keweenaw during their upcoming visit.
This event is being sponsored by the Finnish American Chamber of Commerce Upper Michigan, Finlandia University, Good Times Music, Houghton Community Broadcasting, and the Rosza Center for the Performing Arts.
