Paloheimo Fellows Program Accepting Applications Through Nov. 22

November 1, 2019

The Paloheimo Fellows program allows a select group of students to travel to Finland with Dr. Hilary-Joy Virtanen to study Finnish culture and society. With the support of the Paloheimo Foundation, most expenses for travel are covered.

FinnU students from any major can apply. You must be at least a junior in a four year program or a second year student in a two year program. Applications will be evaluated on academic achievement, intellectual curiosity, community and campus involvement, work ethic, and overall teamwork ability.

Those who are accepted into the program will take a 3-credit spring course, FNS 490: Paloheimo Fellows Seminar, before heading to Tampere, Finland for field research in May 2020. Students will learn social scientific techniques, gain professional development skills in research, writing, multimedia documentation, and intercultural communication.

If you are interested in applying or learning more information, contact Dr. Hilary-Joy Virtanen at hiliary.virtanen@finlandia.edu or visit in Mannerheim 401.  To learn about previous Paloheimo Fellows, visit the program blog at paloheimofellowsprogram.wordpress.com.

The deadline for applications is November 22, 2019.
