Nordic Film Series wraps season with tale of knife fighters

Härmä FilmThe 2016-17 season for the Nordic Film Series at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center concludes this month with showings of the 2012 fictional drama Härmä. The showings will be at 2 and 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 in the FAHC’s Martha Wiljanen Community Hall.

Härmä tells the story of a young Finnish man who is the leader of a gang of troublemakers. When he discovers that his father is veering from tradition and leaving his estate to his younger brother, rather than him – the oldest son – a battle ensues.

The movie, in Finnish with English subtitles, is just over two hours long and contains several scenes of subject matter unsuitable for children.
