Folk School announces winter 2023 classes

The Finnish American Folk School has released its winter 2023 class schedule! Established by the Finnish American Heritage Center and led by Phyllis Fredendall and Clare Zuraw, the Finnish American Folk School exists to ensure that Finnish-American folk traditions exist for centuries to come.

Explore the Finnish epic Kalevala at Finlandia University

Finlandia’s Finnish & Nordic Studies program invites students and auditors to explore the history of Kalevala.

Immortalized as Finland’s national epic, the Kalevala encapsulates ancient Finnish folk traditions. The course details the historical development of the Kalevala poetry tradition, its development and structure as a literary work, its use as an anthropological text, and its use as a political and cultural icon of Finnish identity.

Finlandia University’s annual donor magazine, the Bridge, is now available online. In a new and exciting format, viewers can interact with this year’s issue like never before.

As another fall semester concludes, the Finlandia Podcast Network sets its sights on what’s to come in the new year. Finlandia Fridays explore exclusive Ponsse internship for FinnU students

This week on Finlandia Fridays, marketing and management professor Kevin Manninen stopped by to talk about Finlandia’s International School of Business (ISB) and an upcoming internship opportunity for Finlandia students.

Following an announcement earlier this week, the Ponsse Einari Vidgrén Foundation Internship application period is now open. The internship, exclusive to Finlandia students, features two to three weeks each spent at Ponsse North America in Rhinelander, Wisconsin and Ponsse Plc headquarters in Vieremä, Finland, in May and June 2023.

Applications now open for 2023 Ponsse Internship

Application deadline is Friday, January 27, 2023

Finlandia University students can now apply for the Ponsse Einari Vidgrén Foundation Internship. The internship will consist of approximately two weeks spent at Ponsse North America in Rhinelander, Wisconsin and approximately three weeks at Ponsse Plc headquarters in Vieremä, Finland, in May and June 2023.

Anonymous donation sparks relaunch of Finlandia University Gallery

A recent donation to the Finlandia University Gallery will carry on the legacy and promotion of Finnish-American artists with the continuation of all operations and functions. The donor, who chose to remain anonymous at this time, was joined by an abundance of support from local community members.
