On April 19, 2018 Finlandia Students and Staff traveled to Ontonagon High School to help feed 271 individuals, representing 1050 family members in the community.
“More people came through after registration was closed, but we got to give all the food away to local families. Ontonagon [High School] was pleased and Feeding America was thrilled with the event,” said Soren Schmidt, Campus Pastor.
All 16,115 pounds of food was given away by the end of the night. Finlandia University students were bussed from campus to the event.
This is the fourth time in 3 years Finlandia University has partnered with Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, to bring the Mobile Food Pantry to the area.Tags: Feeding America West Michigan, Ontonagon Area School District, Soren Schmidt
