Finlandia University Gallery announces extended winter and spring hours

The Finlandia University Gallery announces evening and Saturday hours of operation.

Starting Thursday, November 16 and through the month of April 2018, the gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as well as on Thursday evenings until 7 p.m., and on Saturday afternoons from 12 to 4 p.m.

Nordic Film Series to host Bruce Crossing-based film on November 9

Bruce Crossing-based filmmaker Kristin Ojaniemi traveled to Finland earlier this year to conduct interviews for her latest documentary. If she goes to Finland next year, it could be for a screening of her film.

Kristin Ojaniemi of Bruce Crossing will be on site for the Nordic Film Series presentation of Co-operatively Yours on Thursday, November 9 at 2 and 6 p.m. in the Finnish American Heritage Center.

Dr. Virtanen to speak at symposium at Library of Congress

Finlandia University Assistant Professor of Finnish and Nordic Studies Dr. Hilary Virtanen is going to be one of three panelists Thursday at the Library of Congress for a symposium celebrating the history and future of the Finnish language.

Nordic Film Series opens with Finnish comedy

The 2017-18 Nordic Film Series at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center opens October 12 with two showings of the Finnish comedy “3 Simoa” (Simo Times Three). The showings will take place at 2 and 6 p.m. in the Heritage Center’s Martha Wiljanen Community Hall.
