Briana Gorman makes move from Chicago startup to Finlandia University

August 1, 2018

Finlandia University welcomed Digital Media Specialist Briana Gorman to the family this spring as the southern Illinois native moved from a position at gift card startup Raise to the university’s recently expanded marketing and communications department.

Briana Gorman“We’re incredibly excited about the experience, talent, drive and upbeat attitude she is bringing to our campus,” said Michael H. Babcock, Director of Marketing & Communications. “She’s been a great asset to us as we plan for the 2018-19 academic year. Many people have already complimented us on the improved presence on Instagram and Snapchat since she started, and that’s only going to continue to see improvement.”

In addition to social media, Gorman is assisting in a wide variety of marketing activities for the university including writing, website management and graphic design work.

“I fell in love with the Upper Peninsula over a year ago,” said Gorman. “I knew I had to find a way to make this my home. So, when a position opened up at Finlandia in my field I knew I had to jump on it. I can’t wait to continue to give FinnU a cohesive social media presence and stretch my legs creatively. I’ve had so much fun doing it already.”

Gorman has a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Marketing and Communication from Illinois State University. In addition to her work at Finlandia, you can follow her work by following “stationco” on Instagram. Briana Gorman can be reached at briana.gorman@finlandia.edu or (906) 487-7498.
