Well over a century ago the university’s Finnish-Lutheran founders were deeply committed to equipping men and women for life and work in a new context and changing world. This same commitment remains.
Finlandia persists in developing new programs to better prepare our students for a world that is changing and challenging.
Finlandia is the only private, liberal arts-based university in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This means that Finlandia is able to offer, across the curriculum and in specific programs of study, content that invites students to prepare for employment and career within a larger framework of meaningfulness and purpose.
Whether your son or daughter, or family member, is a residential student, a student-athlete, or a non-traditional student, Finlandia’s faculty and staff are striving to make your time here meaningful and enriching. At Finlandia we value doing small well.
Whether you are helping your child pay for college or not, we know you have questions about affordability. Learn more about how Finlandia is a leader in affordability and social mobility for its students below.
You’ve spent almost 20 years raising your child and it can be frightening sending them off on their own after high school. You can feel confident that FinnU’s small size means they won’t get lost in the shuffle. We offer numerous programs to ensure they succeed in and out of the classroom, will persist to graduation and find a vocation and career they love.
TRIO Student Support Services and the Tutoring and Learning Center provide great academic support for students.
Student Senate hosts Broomball for the students and employees to participate in each winter.
At Finlandia Hall, we provide a living environment that assists students in accomplishing their academic, vocational, and social goals. Finlandia Hall is conveniently located in the center of campus and houses laundry facilities, the Finlandia Hall cafe, a computer lab, and multiple student lounges. It is mere minutes away from most classes and the Paavo Nurmi Fitness Center. Each room is suite style with an en-suite bathroom attached.
See what’s happening on campus through our parent e-newsletter.
We also have a Facebook group specifically for parents that you can join here.
