2014 Jacket Workshop with Mary Sue Fenner
This class is designed for all fiber artists: weavers, felters, dyers, sewists, and surface designers–to inspire and guide you in making a beautiful, unique jacket from your own handmade and/or purchased fabrics. Mary Sue will help you choose a suitable style for you and your fabric (approx. 5 yards of 30? width), alter your pattern if needed, and sew, using contemporary and classic sewing methods.

2014 Visiting Artist: Leopoldo Cuspinera Madrigal
Artist Leopoldo Cuspinera Magrigal will be featured in the Finlandia Reflection Gallery from March 27, 2014, to April 18, 2014. In his work Madrigal uses mixed media to create new landscapes from the gallery spaces that the pieces are placed to interact. His work is concerned with how people navigate spaces and ideas.

2014 Visiting Artist: Tony Orrico
Focusing on repetitive movement of the body, Tony Orrico’s work looks into ideas of generation and regeneration of material as well as metaphors of life and death. As a visual artist, performer, and choreographer, Orrico combines techniques of all three to create thought-provoking pieces. His work will be featured in the Finlandia University Gallery from February 27, 2014, to March 19, 2014.
Orrico will be performing one of his pieces on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the EERC Room 510, Electrical Energy Resources Center, at Michigan Technological University.
Orrico will be giving a lecture to students, faculty, and community on February 27, 2014 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in Finlandia’s Jutila Center Chapel located on the 3rd floor.
The opening reception for Orrico will be on February 27, 2014 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Finlandia University Gallery.

2014 “Imperfect: Letterpress X 3”
Showcasing the work of Joey Hannaford, Mervi Pakaste, and Jeff Pulaski, this exhibit revels in the imperfections of a process that extends beyond the computer screen: letterpress. These designers take a traditional process and mold it to fit a modern context and story, each with it’s own unique voice. The exhibition will run from February 6, 2014, to February 28, 2014 located at Finlandia University’s Reflection Gallery.
