FAHC to host Juhannus commemoration June 24

HANCOCK, Mich. — Keeping with a tradition that began nearly a decade ago, the Finnish American Heritage Center will host an intimate ceremony to commemorate Juhannus (Midsummer) at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 24.

Textbook Giving Day is today!

The Finlandia Alumni Board is hosting Giving Day 2021 today, June 16! Giving Day is dedicated to raising money to help students pay for textbooks. The Finlandia Alumni Board seeks to raise $10,000 and are looking to share this message to support their cause. To learn more about how to give back to Finlandia’s students, visit finlandia.edu/givingday. Every $250 awards another FinnU student a textbook scholarship!

Portage Health Foundation Scholarship application now open to 2021-22 Finlandia University students

Applications are now being accepted for the Portage Health Foundation Scholarship opportunity to Finlandia University students studying healthcare and coming from Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga or Ontonagon counties. The scholarship can be awarded to the same person for up to four years.

The application deadline is July 16, 2021. This scholarship is open to returning and incoming FinnU students.

Student application now open for $250 Alumni Association Textbook Awards

Finlandia students who are enrolled for Fall 2021 are encouraged to apply for a $250 Alumni Association Textbook Award. The Award, given in the form of a North Wind Books gift certificate, is open to all students who meet the following the criteria:

Enrolled full-time for Fall 2021 In good academic standing Degree-seeking

The free application will be open until Friday, August 6 at 4:30 p.m. and recipients will be notified by August 16.

Fall 2021 Hancock Promise recipients announced

Through an educational collaboration between Finlandia University and Hancock Central High School, the Hancock Promise allows for Hancock Central High School graduates to attend Finlandia University at a tuition cost of up to only $2,500 per school year. Hancock Central held their graduation ceremony Saturday, May 29, following a senior parade that proceeded down Quincy Street. The Finnish American Heritage Center (FAHC) will reopen to the general public on June 1, 2021 under the following guidelines:
