It’s On Us Week of Action with Erin Barnett on Finlandia Fridays

This week Finlandia Fridays was visited by Dean of Students Erin Barnett to promote the campus wide It’s On Us campaign. It’s On Us is a national campaign that was started by former Vice President Joe Biden that raises awareness for sexual assault. Give Drugs the Boot was a hit in first year at FinnU

Give Drugs the Boot was hosted this weekend at Finlandia University. The event kicked off with a very moving talk from Mrs. Brusso. She shared the story of how her daughter suffered the loss of her father and turned to heroin as a coping technique. Despite various attempts to get treatment for her addiction, Jamie Brusso overdosed on heroin in her apartment. Dial Help providing on-site services to FinnU students and employees

Weekly on-campus availability on Monday afternoons

Students at Finlandia University seeking assistance through a traumatic event are now able to get that service right on Finlandia’s campus as Dial Help’s Sexual Assault Service Coordinator Peggy Sullivan will be on campus each Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. Sullivan can be found in Mannerheim 124, near the Registrar’s Office.

Navy veteran Marie Bonenfant hired in student accounts

Finlandia University has hired Marie Bonenfant to the position of Coordinator of Student Accounts. Bonenfant is from Lake Linden, a Navy veteran and Finlandia alumnus. She started at Finlandia on Monday.

“When I came here as a student it was the first thing I did as a civilian,” Bonenfant said. “It felt like home then, and coming here now it once again feels like I’m coming home.”
