GIVING

WAYS TO GIVE

Choose to make an immediate impact by donating now or work with our Giving staff to set up a deferred giving plan to make a future impact.

MAKE AN IMMEDIATE IMPACT

Help support Finlandia’s annual operating expenses or designate your money to a specific project or student group.

CASH, CHECK, CREDIT CARD

Finlandia alumni and friends most often choose to give cash, by check or credit card. It’s easy, effective and tax-deductible. Mail checks payable to Finlandia University with a letter telling us about your gift’s specific purpose to: Finlandia University, 601 Quincy St.  Hancock, MI 49930

Finlandia is a 501(c)(3) institution. Your gift is tax-deductible for the year it’s made, subject to the US federal income tax laws guidelines. Finlandia’s tax identification number is 38-1359570.

GIFTS IN HONOR OR MEMORIAM

Your gift may be given in honor of, or as a memorial to someone you wish to recognize. These gifts are regularly recognized in the Bridge.

EMPLOYER MATCH

Several employers match an employee’s charitable contributions. If you work for a matching-gift company, please take the necessary steps to ensure your gift will be matched. If you don’t know whether your company will match your contribution, you can ask your human resources department.

MAKE A FUTURE IMPACT

PLANNED AND DEFERRED

Planned giving and deferred giving are also key to Finlandia’s institutional stability. Millions in deferred gifts have helped Finlandia to, in the words of one of our friends, “become what it needs to be”. Our staff will work with you and any of your financial advisors to create a plan that will work best for you, your family, and the legacy you want to create at Finlandia.

WILLS AND TRUSTS

Gifts through a will or trust can be in cash, stock, securities or in real property. As with any major gift the donor may wish to designate funds to a particular area and/or document the gift in honor or memorial of someone (e.g. The Mr. and Mrs. Doe Endowed Scholarship for Nursing, The John Smith Endowed Chair for Design, etc.).

ESTATES

It is Finlandia’s policy to sell property that is willed the institution due to the usual need for ongoing maintenance and property management unless the property is deemed useful for other program or university use.
