Personal Statement
Statement of Support for Human Rights and Dignity in America and the World
As an employee at Finlandia University, as a citizen of the United States of America, and as a human being, I support the rights of all individuals who seek freedom, safety and respect, regardless of their religion, ethnicity or national origin. I recognize the persistent threat of violence, both abroad and at home, and for this very reason, I stand with the “poor, huddled masses” at the core of American democracy. There will always be threats, but I refuse to be terrorized into intolerance and instead choose strength, openness, knowledge, respect and love. I welcome respectful debate and dialogue with all who seek to uphold these inherent values of our democratic system.
Inspirations
People who don’t let fear stop them from growing, taking risks, and helping others.
