Festival Ruska Mölkky Tournament

Finlandia University’s Student Senate is hosting the inaugural Mölkky tournament. Mölkky is a Finnish yard game that is suitable for everyone, regardless of age and condition. Having success in Mölkky is based on a combination of chance and skill, and on Thursday night we’ll crown the first Festival Ruska Mölkky Tournament Champion! This is free and open to the public. Please arrive by 5:45 to register your team, and first-time players are invited to stop by at 5:30 for a demonstration of how to play! Mölkky sets will be provided, and a concession stand hosted by Finlandia University Student Senate will be open.

Copper Country Community Band Performance

The Copper Country Community Band is a volunteer band, 40 strong, made up of musicians ages 14-80 who play free summer concerts in the Keweenaw.  Their music includes marches, overtures, show tunes, pop tunes, and Americana. The group will be at Quincy Green on Thursday, June 12 at 7 p.m. The event is free, and people should bring a chair or blanket, if desired. Another event for the Month of Action.  Walk a Mile in THEIR Shoes marches take place across the country as men, women, and children walk in high heels to raise awareness for sexual assault violence.  Everyone is encouraged to join Finlandia's students as they march down Quincy Street.  Please note that wearing high heels is not a requirement to march.

Bleed Blue Homecoming Parade

Show Hancock how you Bleed Blue by marching in the Bleed Blue Homecoming Parade! The parade will go from Quincy Green to McAfee Field. Anyone is welcome to join the parade or watch on the side as it goes by. Participants are encouraged to dress in all blue and show their school spirit for the Finlandia Lions. The parade will start promptly at 11am and participants are asked to arrive by 10:45. This will be a walking parade and there will be a police escort. Parade of Nations Parade: 30 Years of Bridging Cultures

Parade of Nations 2019

The Parade of Nations strives to promote worldwide culture and national awareness in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula through a community-wide annual event that includes a parade and a multicultural festival. The parade begins at 11 a.m., making its way through Hancock across the Portage Lake Lift Bridge to Houghton. There’s a float contest featuring $600 in cash prizes. Everyone is invited to march with their country. The procession winds up at Dee Stadium, a historic waterfront venue transformed into a global marketplace featuring dozens of food and craft booths and performers from around the world.
