Artwork by Lana BosakThe artworks featured in the annual Diploma Works exhibit represent the final body of student work for each graduating bachelor of fine arts (BFA) student. The works include intensive research projects, series of individual artworks, and design prototypes. A variety of media is represented, including painting, illustration, sculpture, fashion design, graphic design, interdisciplinary design, and ceramics.

Three graduating BFA students have interpreted traditional techniques to express modern content: lithophane-an etched or molded artwork in thin very translucent porcelain, and sumi-e painting-an East Asian method of brush painting using ink and wash.

“I am excited for the community to see the work of this talented group of graduating seniors,” remarked gallery director Carrie Flaspohler “The work is exceptional; it is both technically strong and profoundly meaningful.”

The 2010 ISAD graduating seniors are Jaimianne Amicucci (Mahopac Falls, NY), Sarah Anderson (Houghton), Lana Bosak (Underwood, Minn.), Brandon Faust (Calumet), John Fish (Iron River), Ashley Jilek (Rockford, Ill.), Pamela Kotila (Dodgeville), Kacey Kreuter (Oneida, Wis.), Vanessa Lipson (Royal Oak, Mich.), Laura Metcalf (Gwinn, Mich.), Benjamin Mitchell (Hancock), Lauren Strong (Gladstone), Tara Vassar (Niagara, Wis.), D.C.
