Finlandia Reflection Gallery Call for Art: “Art With A Repurpose” Exhibition

December 1, 2011

The Finlandia University Reflection Gallery, Hancock, will host a collaborative exhibit of repurposed art from December 1, 2011, to January 29, 2012.

All Finlandia University students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate by making and submitting art using repurposed materials in a creative way. Materials that can be used include, but are not limited to, magazines, water bottles, scrap metal, et cetera. In this day and age, manufactured goods should be used to their full potential. With this exhibit, the Reflection Gallery wants to encourage students and others to see purpose in previously discarded products.

There is no submission fee, but each person may enter only two pieces. There will be cash prizes: 1st place: $200, 2nd place: $100, and 3rd place: $50. The prizes will be awarded at the opening reception.

There are three rules each piece must abide by: 1) All art must be made of repurposed or found materials; 2) Pieces must be no larger than 6’x6’x4′; and 3) All work must be submitted by 3:00 p.m., November 28, 2011. Please drop off all art in Room 204 at the Jutila Center.

All work not selected for the exhibition must be picked up before November 20, 2011, from Room 211 at the Jutila Center.

To enter, pick up a form at one of the following locations: Finlandia Hall, Room 325; Jutila Center campus, Room 211; or Maki Library.

Please join us for the exhibit’s opening reception Thursday, December 1, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., at the Reflection Gallery. The prize winners will be announced at the reception. The reception is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
