Summer Bridge Program – Explore Swedetown Trails

Swedetown Trails Calumet,

  Explore Swedetown Trails* – Take a ride 12 miles up U.S. 41 to beautiful Calumet, Michigan and their trail system, Swedetown Trails. The 1,900-acre trail systems are best used during winter for cross country skiing and sledding, but they offer some great fun during the summer as well for running, hiking, and biking! Bike rentals through Cross Country Sports will be $20, while hikers will have access for free.


Summer Bridge Program – Copper Harbor trip

Copper Harbor trip* – The northern tip of Michigan has a ton to offer, and we’ll help students enjoy the best of it with bike and kayak rentals courtesy of Keweenaw Adventure Company. Even if you don’t want to bike or kayak, there’s still plenty of fun to be had hiking, exploring the old city and enjoying the beauty of Lake Superior.

Festival Ruska Mölkky Tournament

Quincy Green 425 Quincy Street, Hancock, MI

Finlandia University’s Student Senate is hosting the inaugural Mölkky tournament. Mölkky is a Finnish yard game that is suitable for everyone, regardless of age and condition. Having success in Mölkky is based on a combination of chance and skill, and on Thursday night we’ll crown the first Festival Ruska Mölkky Tournament Champion! This is free and open to the public. Please arrive by 5:45 to register your team, and first-time players are invited to stop by at 5:30 for a demonstration of how to play! Mölkky sets will be provided, and a concession stand hosted by Finlandia University Student Senate will be open.

Student Outing: Cross Country Skiing

Swedetown Trails Calumet,

Students are invited to a free event on Tuesday, March 5 to get a taste of what it's like to go cross country skiing. The event includes a stop at Cross Country Sports in Calumet where every participant will get custom fit to a pair of boots and classic cross country skis. Once everyone is geared up, students will head to the Swedetown Trails in Calumet for skiing and hot cocoa. There is no cost for the equipment rentals and to be on the trails.
