Mobile Mentoring Project Kick Off

Finlandia University’s mobile mentoring project with Finnish app developer Mesensei will kick off with a workshop on Wednesday, October 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Finnish American Heritage Center. This event is free and open to the public. The workshop will provide insight on the different uses of mentorship in support of teaching, career services, alumni relations, and fundraising, based on case studies and experiences from Europe, Asia and Canada. Jim LaVallee of Microsoft will be on campus to present to students on Tuesday, November 27 at 3 p.m. in Wargelin 303. This presentation is free and open to all students. LaVallee will discuss his positions as Delivery Management Manager and Principle Service Delivery Executive for Microsoft. LaVallee will place a special emphasis on the importance of "soft skills" and in managing projects and providing customer service. He will also discuss the opportunities and challenges of managing virtual project teams.
