Parade of Nations returns home to Quincy Green

Dozens of Finlandia University students and employees played part in representing nearly 60 countries in Saturday’s Parade of Nations. 

The Parade returned home to Quincy Green this year after being rerouted in 2021. Overlooked by FinnU’s historic Hirvonen Hall, community members gathered as the start of the Parade approached. Celebrating cultural diversity in the Keweenaw, floats and marchers with flags and banners walked down Quincy Street, crossed the Portage Lift Bridge and continued through downtown Houghton. Everything you need to know about Parade of Nations 2022

Ever had Indian food? How about African? Bangladeshi? You can taste all those cuisines and more at this year’s Parade of Nations on Saturday, September 17.

The Parade of Nations starts at 11 a.m. at Quincy Green in Hancock. Floats and marchers with flags and banners will walk east down Quincy Street, cross the Portage Lift Bridge, then proceed east down Shelden Avenue through downtown Houghton. International food returns at Parade of Nations, September 17

The Parade of Nations will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM! Student and community organizations are invited to enter floats or march in the Parade. Details about float guidelines, parade route, etc, are available here. International food returns this year!

The Multicultural Festival begins at noon at the Dee Stadium. For just $5 to $8, you can get a full meal or choose from international tidbits at more than a dozen food booths. with international student organizations [...]

On July 16, President Tim Pinnow joined Finlandia University faculty, staff, and even Riku the Lion, for a day of volunteering at the 47th Annual Canal Run. FinnU volunteers helped out by assisting at the various water stops, handing out awards at the finish line and guiding participants.

Volunteer with the Great Bear Chase this March

The UP Health System Great Bear Chase Ski Marathon is looking for volunteers to assist with its annual event. The Great Bear Chase includes three distances, with separate races and starts for classic and freestyle: 50k, 25k, and 10k. The Great Bear Chase also includes a 50km skiathlon (25km classic and 25km freestyle).
