Did you know that TRIO Programs have been present on Finlandia/Suomi’s campus since the early 1980s? Or that we have three different TRIO programs on campus, but there are seven types of TRIO programs? Or that the need for organized TRIO came out of the State of the Union address in 1964 by Lyndon B Johnson, as part of the War on Poverty?

The Tutoring and Learning Center offers all Finlandia students free tutoring for help in many general education courses and some upper level courses. The TLC also offers study skill workshops, study groups, computer literacy development, and the use of a small computer lab. FinnU faculty members utilize the TLC to provide students with study aids such as classroom reserve material, review sheets, and past exams.
Finals are stressful. It’s a fact that college students have come to know and loathe. Finlandia aims to do finals differently.
We start, with Late Night Breakfast & Tutoring. Students are encouraged to come hang out in the Café, get some breakfast, and get some studying done. All food for the event is prepared and served by staff. This breakfast is well attended, free and fun for everyone involved.
