Giving Day 2022 starts now!

Join the Finlandia Alumni Board for a day dedicated to raising money to help students pay for textbooks. The Finlandia Alumni Board seeks to raise $10,000 and is looking to share this message to support their cause. To learn more about how to give back to Finlandia’s students, visit finlandia.edu/givingday. Every $250 awards another FinnU student a textbook scholarship!

Support student textbook awards on June 14

Giving Day 2022 is one week away!

The Finlandia Alumni Board is hosting its fourth Giving Day on June 14, 2022. The day is dedicated to raising money to help students pay for textbooks.

In 2021, the FAB helped 49 students with their textbooks and was able to help fund two student support initiatives by donating to Finlandia’s Textbook Justice Library and North Wind Books. The Finlandia Alumni Board will host its fourth annual Giving Day on June 14 this year. Dedicated to helping students pay for textbooks, the Alumni Board’s annual fundraiser supports FinnU students through the way of textbook awards. Giving Day is a day to celebrate all things Finlandia and show the world the opportunities it affords its alumni, family and friends.

FinnU named to Best Bachelor’s Degree Colleges

Finlandia University was recently named among the best for bachelor’s degrees in the State of Michigan in 2022 by University Headquarters.

Among the most important factors in the ranking system of University HQ is accreditation and the Higher Learning Commission provides that to Finlandia University with institutional accreditation. Physical Therapy Assistant and Nursing programs at Finlandia are also accredited. The 47th Annual Canal Run is July 16 this year and they are looking for volunteers!

For more than 40 years, the Canal Run has been creating incredible memories in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. Finlandia University names Tim Pinnow as next president

Finlandia University has elected Tim Pinnow, Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Colorado Mesa University (CMU), as its 17th president following a unanimous vote by the University’s Board of Trustees. He will assume his presidency on July 1, 2022.

The Board’s selection of Finlandia’s President-elect follows a five-month nationwide search led by the University’s Presidential Search Committee, with professional support from the national executive search firm, Academic Search. 2022 Alumni Exhibit Virtual Tour | Finlandia University Gallery

Due to popular demand, the 2022 ISAD Alumni Exhibit has been extended until April 19.

“The public response to this exhibit has been exceptional,” Gallery Director Carrie Flaspohler said. “I have extended the exhibit until April 19th to allow for more in-person viewing, but if you are from out of the area, please enjoy this video tour of the exhibit.”

Virtanen’s research to be featured in three PBS world premieres this weekend

On Sunday, March 13, the world premiere of three documentary films featuring the research and production-related work of Finnish & Nordic Studies Professor Hilary-Joy Virtanen will take place on PBS station WNMU-TV Marquette as part of their Festival! 22 pledge programming.
