Student Senate President Charles Patch kicks off second season of Finlandia Fridays

This week Finlandia Fridays is joined by Student Senate President Charles Patch. The university was introduced to Patch at opening convocation, which took place on August 27, the Sunday before classes started. Wanted: Campus and Community Representative on Student Senate

Finlandia University’s Student Senate has one opening remaining heading into the 2017-18 school year, and all current students are encouraged to apply. The position comes with a leadership scholarship of $900 per semester. To apply, submit a letter of interest and resumé to senate@finlandia.edu.

Student Senate donates to Copper Country Humane Society

Last week Jenna Ollanketo and Alena Fiala (pictured above) from the Finlandia University Student Senate stopped by the Copper Country Humane Society to make a $115 donation. The funds were raised during the senate’s Winter Week event of Pie in the Face.

Opportunity knocked and Keith Arnold answered

Laying in his dorm room during the first week of school, this week’s Finlandia Fridays guest Keith Arnold could barely sleep. The relative quietness of his surrounding, compared to the freeways and hustle and bustle of his hometown of Detroit was almost all encompassing to the 18-year-old Finlandia University freshman. That didn’t last long though.
