Service Sites needed for MLK Day

Finlandia University’s second annual MLK Day of Service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2016 during the nationally recognized holiday of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The day of service will include a keynote speaker, campus brunch, a worship service, a film presentation. Alums come back to help at Servant Leadership House

It was a beautiful summer day in August when Gary and Jean Terrio made it back to Finlandia’s campus. The five-hour drive from northern Minnesota took its wear, but the end product was well worth all of the pre-trip work and the installation that was about to happen for these proud alumni of the university that went by Suomi College when they were students.

Photos + Video: Service and Learning in Tanzania 2016

Six Finlandia University students and two staff members traveled to Tanzania in May for the 11th annual Service and Learning in Tanzania experience.

During their three weeks in Tanzania, students participate in curricular and co-curricular activities at Kisarawe Lutheran Jr. Seminary (a secondary school), shadow nurses at the national hospital, and stay with host families. These relationship building opportunities along with accompanying reflection activities help students grow in their understanding of Servant Leadership and engage in self-exploration.
