Explore the Finnish epic Kalevala at Finlandia University

Finlandia’s Finnish & Nordic Studies program invites students and auditors to explore the history of Kalevala.

Immortalized as Finland’s national epic, the Kalevala encapsulates ancient Finnish folk traditions. The course details the historical development of the Kalevala poetry tradition, its development and structure as a literary work, its use as an anthropological text, and its use as a political and cultural icon of Finnish identity.

Registration details for spring classes have been released, and the Spring 2023 class schedule is viewable on Empower. Students must communicate with their academic advisor to receive their PIN. This number has been refreshed and is different from the one you would have used to sign up last semester. Finnish & Nordic Studies program expands online offerings to public

Finlandia University’s Finnish & Nordic Studies program is happy to announce an expansion of its Spring 2023 course offerings to auditing students. The development will increase the available spots for auditors in two classes, FNS 360 Kalevala and FNS 221 History and Culture of Finland.

Finlandia University is proud to announce its Spring 2022 semester Dean’s and Honors List Students. In total 124 students earned honors, including 88 who earned Dean’s List honors for having a grade point average of 3.75 or above.

To be eligible for either list students must have completed 12 or more credits and had no grade below a “C.” Dean’s List students earned a GPA of 3.75 or above, while Honors List students had a GPA between 3.50 and 3.749. Registration for Summer & Fall 2021 Classes Now Open to All Students

Registration for spring classes is now underway for all students. Students must communicate with their academic advisor to receive their PIN. Don’t miss out on discounted online summer courses

Finlandia University will once again be offering discounted summer courses for students. Instead of the usual $779 per credit hour during the fall and spring semester, summer courses are offered at $250 per credit hour. If you are a non-degree seeking student, you may audit the courses for $75 per credit hour.

Courses are 8 weeks long, online, and run from May 17-July 9, 2021.
