Teach-Out & Transfer Fair for FinnU Students is March 20

Finlandia University students are invited to attend our Teach-Out & Transfer Fair coming up on Monday, March 20. The event will be held on-campus from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Paavo Nurmi Center Gymnasium. Over 20 colleges and universities will be in attendance. On Friday, March 17, information about attending colleges and universities and what they are offering will be updated at www.finlandia.edu/teachoutfair.

Applications now being accepted for 2023 Ryan Bessolo, MSN, RN, CMSRN Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Nursing program students entering into their junior and senior year are invited to apply

Applications are now being accepted for the Ryan Bessolo, MSN, RN, CMSRN Memorial Endowed Scholarship. The application deadline for the scholarship is Monday, March 13, 2023.

Nursing students heading into their junior or senior year with a GPA of 3.25 GPA or higher may be eligible for the scholarship. Qualified applicants must be continuing their nursing studies at Finlandia University the following year.

The Honors and Awards Banquet is upon us, and all faculty and staff are invited to nominate deserving students for scholarships and awards. The event is dependent upon faculty and staff nominations, so please take a few minutes to nominate students you believe to be good candidates by March 13, 2023. Nursing students heading into their junior or senior year with a GPA between 3.00 to 3.49 may be eligible for the Samuel L. Westerman Scholarship for Nursing. The application deadline for the scholarship is Monday, March 13, 2023.

Applications are now being accepted for the Virginia Fund Scholarship, which is open to all freshman women at Finlandia University. The scholarship, typically $250-500, is awarded based on academic achievement and contribution to campus life. Explore the Finnish epic Kalevala at Finlandia University

Finlandia’s Finnish & Nordic Studies program invites students and auditors to explore the history of Kalevala.

Immortalized as Finland’s national epic, the Kalevala encapsulates ancient Finnish folk traditions. The course details the historical development of the Kalevala poetry tradition, its development and structure as a literary work, its use as an anthropological text, and its use as a political and cultural icon of Finnish identity.

Registration dates for Spring 2023 classes

Registration details for spring classes have been released, and the Spring 2023 class schedule is viewable on Empower. Students must communicate with their academic advisor to receive their PIN. This number has been refreshed and is different from the one you would have used to sign up last semester. You can email your advisor as a form of communication at this time to work out your course schedule and to receive your PIN.

Finlandia University’s Finnish & Nordic Studies program is happy to announce an expansion of its Spring 2023 course offerings to auditing students. The development will increase the available spots for auditors in two classes, FNS 360 Kalevala and FNS 221 History and Culture of Finland.

124 honored on Spring 2022 Dean’s and Honors List

Finlandia University is proud to announce its Spring 2022 semester Dean’s and Honors List Students. In total 124 students earned honors, including 88 who earned Dean’s List honors for having a grade point average of 3.75 or above.

To be eligible for either list students must have completed 12 or more credits and had no grade below a “C.” Dean’s List students earned a GPA of 3.75 or above, while Honors List students had a GPA between 3.50 and 3.749.
