Nordic Film Series to show Swedish dark comedy

A Swedish film based on a best-selling novel of the same name is February’s selection for the Nordic Film Series at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center. The film will show at 2 and 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 9 in the Heritage Center’s Martha Wiljanen Community Hall.

Queen Christina of Sweden’s reign lasted only a decade in the 17th century, during a time when her nation was engaged in one of the most destructive conflicts in European history. Her story is so intriguing, it captured the interest of several filmmakers.

Nordic Film Series opens with local documentary UP a River

The 2016-17 season of the Nordic Film Series at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center (FAHC) gets under way with a film every Upper Michigan outdoorsman and outdoorswoman must see. On Thursday, October 13, the series opens with showings of the locally produced documentary “UP a River.”
