Finnish Independence Day program to honor George H.W. Bush

In honor of the late President George H.W. Bush, the Finnish Independence Day program at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center will include a special musical performance, accompanied by a color guard presentation.

Vocalist Mark Oliver, a veteran himself, will sing “The Navy Hymn,” while the Houghton-Hancock Junior ROTC program presents the colors, as part of the Independence Day celebration, which begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 6.

St. Urho’s/St.Patrick’s Day Dance

Mark your calendar for the St. Urho’s/St.Patrick’s Day Dance – an old time Copper Country Dance!

RSVP to the event on Facebook (not required)

Doors open at 6:30. The evening begins with a short performance by the Kivajat Dancers, followed by dancing with the Backroom Boys.  Special guest with will be Finnish television personality Antti Holma. The event is a fundraiser for the Kivajat Dancers! Additional details will be released closer to the event’s date!

Finnish TV personality attending Friday’s St. Urho’s/St. Patrick’s Day Dance

Finnish TV personality Antti Holma was looking to produce a show about Finnish-American culture, and he knew exactly where to go.
