This week on Finlandia Fridays, new Executive Assistant to the President, Kailee Laplander, joins the show to talk about Finlandia’s upcoming 125th Anniversary celebrations on December 3, 4 and 5. Finnish American Reporter receives Award of Excellence 2021

The Finnish American Reporter recently received the Finlandia Foundation National Award of Excellence for 2021. Founded in 1986, the FAR is the largest and most widely circulated newspaper for Finns in North America. Editor-in-Chief David Maki accepted the award at FFN’s meeting last month at Finn Camp in Wixom, Michigan.

Finlandia halves price of top ranked Online RN-BSN program

Western Upper Peninsula’s only accredited BSN program, the Online RN-BSN completion track, just became even more affordable at Finlandia University. 

For busy nurses looking to advance their careers, budgeting for an RN-BSN program should be the least of their worries. Finlandia is making that part easier by lowering the price of its Online RN-BSN program to $7,500.

Archive to temporarily close to complete reorganization

HANCOCK, Mich. — The next steps in a significant project — one that is enhancing customer service efficiency and helping to maximize available archival storage space — make it necessary that Finlandia University’s Finnish American Historical Archive close to visitors and researchers from October 25 through November 5.

Rajala joins Financial Aid staff

Finlandia’s Financial Aid department recently welcomed alumna Jenna Rajala (’15) as the new Coordinator of Student Accounts. Rajala started her higher education journey as a Finlandia student in 2004 and returned to finish her Physical Therapist Assistant degree at the university in 2015.

“This will be my third adventure at Finlandia but my first experience as a staff member,” Rajala said.

Finnish American Folk School hosts music and crafts classes at Finlandia

Hancock, MI – Fall courses are underway at the Finnish American Folk School’s Festival Ruska in Hancock. Registration is still open for some classes and workshops, including two unique musical opportunities. Kay Seppala will teach 5-String Kantele for Beginners in the Finnish American Heritage Center Hall in Hancock on Tuesdays October 12-November 9 from 6:30-7:30pm.
