Foreign exchange student designs winning Parade of Nations logo

Chiara Rapacci, a 17-year-old junior at Baraga High School, won this year’s Parade of Nations logo contest. Her design will be the official logo of the 2022 Parade of Nations, printed on T-shirts, flyers and other materials.

Rapacci is an exchange student from Italy, sponsored by International Cultural Exchange Services (ICES), a nonprofit international high school student exchange program. Her logo illustrates this year’s theme: The World is One.

Parade of Nations announced for September 17

The Parade of Nations has chosen a theme for its 2022 event that is extremely appropriate for the times we live in: The World is One

This year’s Parade of Nations will take place on September 17. International food returns this year, with international student organizations offering the cuisine of their countries. Food will be available for take-out only, at the Dee Stadium in Houghton.

The Parade of Nations is an annual celebration of the multiculturalism of our community.

TRIO Upward Bound at Finlandia University awarded grant to help low-income, potential first generation students access higher education

 

Grant will provide TRIO Upward Bound with five years of funding to help a minimum of 84 students from 8 schools in the Copper Country Intermediate School District to find their path to college.

FinnU named to Best Bachelor’s Degree Colleges

Finlandia University was recently named among the best for bachelor’s degrees in the State of Michigan in 2022 by University Headquarters.

Among the most important factors in the ranking system of University HQ is accreditation and the Higher Learning Commission provides that to Finlandia University with institutional accreditation. Physical Therapy Assistant and Nursing programs at Finlandia are also accredited. Finlandia University names Tim Pinnow as next president

Finlandia University has elected Tim Pinnow, Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Colorado Mesa University (CMU), as its 17th president following a unanimous vote by the University’s Board of Trustees. He will assume his presidency on July 1, 2022.
