Kaitlyn Lundeen named Class of 2023 Student Representative

The 2023 Student Representative, Kaitlyn Lundeen, is a healthcare management major from Maple, Wisc. Lundeen earned a 3.92 grade point average and will be graduating Summa Cum Laude with an associate physical therapist assistant (PTA) degree, a Bachelor of Business Administration in Healthcare Management and a minor in psychology.

Esports win 2022 Valorant National Championship

It was a dominating performance as the Finlandia University Esports team for Valorant (9-7) beat British Columbia Marine (14-1) 3-0 (13-3, 13-7, 13-2) for the NECC National Championship in the Navigators Division.

This is the first national championship for the Esports program, which finished their second season.  It’s the third national title for Lions athletics, the first in 18 years.

Finlandia Esports advance to quarterfinals in NECC Rocket League National Tournament

Finlandia University’s Esports Rocket League team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the NECC National Tournament after going 2-1 in the qualifying round of the double-elimination tournament. At 3 p.m. today, May 16, FinnU will open quarterfinal play against GFU Academy. The winning team will advance to the semifinals held tonight at 6 p.m.

Finlandia University will be adding to its slate of intercollegiate athletic programs this fall. Hired to lead the resurgence of Lions Cross Country in its first season since 2018 is Head Coach Tony Skiles.

Bridge Feature: Hirvonen Hall provides new Esports arena

Instructional renovations at Hirvonen Hall have provided Finlandia’s Esports program with a new state-of-the-art arena. With well over 20 active players, the new space includes 14 top-of-the-line personal computers, 4k TVs, numerous consoles, a VR machine and a green screen streaming studio. Opening their doors for Finlandia students, their family and friends to enjoy the new equipment, Esports hosts open houses on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. to midnight and Sundays 1 to 7 p.m.

Goodman, Gonzalez talk fall esports success, announce new arena

ECAC Fall FIFA finalist, Chelan Gonzalez, and Esports Coach, Thomas Goodman, called into Finlandia Fridays this week to talk about the team’s success in their first season, how they managed to play through COVID restrictions and what they’re looking forward to in 2021 with their new arena.
