Finlandia Fridays Dives Into the Finlandia Gallery ISAD Faculty Exhibit

Financial Aid, Football and more make the move to Nikander and Mannerheim Halls

As the nursing and PTA programs left their former office and classroom spaces in Nikander and Mannerheim Halls to move into the newly renovated Hirvonen College of Health Sciences, many others began taking their spots. Here’s a complete rundown of key campus office moves since the beginning of the semester.

The Seaton Center for Vocation & Career is officially open

It’s a moment campus has been waiting for since the news originally broke in 2019. The Seaton Center for Vocation & Career is officially open and housed in Nikander 15. While there are still some furniture pieces coming in and decorating to be completed, the CVC is now offering services and appointment to students.

Students to participate in social justice webinar with Jen Fry Talks on Jan. 19

Finlandia Fridays is back for Season 5! To kick the season off, host Olivia Myers talked with Dean of Students Erin Barnett about Finlandia’s Safe Open Plan for the Fall 2020 semester.

Professional Portrait Session Scheduled for Thursday, January 23

All employees and students are invited to have a professional portrait taken on Friday, January 23 at the Finlandia Hall Dining Room. This session will run from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Students are invited to use the photo on LinkedIn as they prepare to enter the workforce. We will email them in the weeks following the photoshoot. Employees who attend will have the photo used on the employee directory. If personal copies of the photos are desired, please e-mail

Haley Bussell Joins the Marketing and Communications Team at Finlandia University

The marketing and communications office at Finlandia University welcomed Haley Bussell to their team this early fall as the new Digital Marketing Coordinator. 

“I’m delighted to be joining FinnU’s enriched and engaged faculty and staff. Being surrounded by educators, community leaders, and lifelong learners is a great place to be.”

Bussell earned her bachelor’s degree in public relations from Northern Michigan University and worked within NMU’s marketing and communications team as a student employee before making the move to Hancock.

Finnish Exchange Alum, Marko Luoma (’03), talks International Business on Leading the Pride

Leading the Pride is back this month with businessman, Marko Luoma (’03). Luoma was a Finnish exchange student at Finlandia in the early 2000s and played hockey for the Lions. After spending several years working in the business sector, Luoma and his siblings decided to start their own business called Xport, which focuses on helping businesses break into new international markets.

Anastazia Hartman to lead social media efforts

Anastazia Hartman is the newest member to join Finlandia’s marketing and communications department as a social and digital media specialist.

“I am extremely excited to be here and become part of the community at Finlandia.” Hartman said. “I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and building relationships on campus and in the community.”
