Applications now open for 2022-23 Portage Health Foundation Scholarship at Finlandia University

Applications are now being accepted for the Portage Health Foundation Scholarship opportunity to Finlandia University students studying healthcare and coming from Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga or Ontonagon counties. The scholarship can be awarded to the same person for up to four years.

This scholarship is open to returning and incoming FinnU students.

Local students looking forward to next FinnU Shark Day

Taking a spin on the hit TV show “Shark Tank”, Finlandia University held its inaugural FinnU Shark Day on Wednesday, March 9 with more than 60 high school students from L’anse, Baraga Area and Calumet in attendance. Finlandia University’s Student Nurses Association (FUSNA) is celebrating its 20th annual benefit for Omega House on April 2. What began in 2002 as a spaghetti dinner has become one of the most popular pancake breakfasts in the Western U.P.

Applications Open for 2022 Samuel L. Westerman Scholarship for Nursing

Nursing students heading into their junior or senior year with a GPA between 3.00 to 3.49 may be eligible for the Samuel L. Westerman Scholarship for Nursing. Application deadline for the scholarship is Monday, March 07.

The amount of scholarships and money awarded will depend on the quantity and quality of applications. Students who want to be considered for renewal must file a new application each year, and will be given equal consideration with other candidates.

You won’t be able to miss the new addition to the third floor of Hirvonen Hall, a 20-foot canvas painted by campus and community members.
