Local students show entrepreneurial skills at FinnU’s Shark Day competition

Finlandia University held its second annual Shark Day on Wednesday with teams of high school juniors and seniors from Calumet, Baraga Area and Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College’s career technical education program. Students competed to win a $2,500 scholarship to attend Finlandia University.

Local students looking forward to next FinnU Shark Day

Taking a spin on the hit TV show “Shark Tank”, Finlandia University held its inaugural FinnU Shark Day on Wednesday, March 9 with more than 60 high school students from L’anse, Baraga Area and Calumet in attendance. Students competed for the chance to win a $2,500 scholarship in the first event of its type on Finlandia’s campus.

FinnU Shark Day hosting local students for entrepreneurship competition

On this week’s episode of Finlandia Fridays, Education Partner Manager and Dual Enrollment Advisor Lauren Huested joins the show to talk about FinnU Shark Day. A play on the show Shark Tank, the March 9 event focuses on teaching students in their junior and senior years about entrepreneurship, creativity, working in a team and public speaking skills. Finlandia University’s chapter of Business Professionals of America is hosting Business Professionals of America Day on Wednesday, February 14 with a full day of activities for Upper Peninsula high school and college students.
