Alumni Board Giving Day seeks to raise $30K for FinnU Safe Open

The Finlandia Alumni Board (FAB) is hosting its annual Giving Day on Sept. 1 in an effort to raise $30,000 to assist the university in it’s Safe Open. Funds raised will go toward the cost of baseline testing for all students and employees, as well as personal protective equipment (PPE) and other necessary equipment to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 on campus this fall.

Gift a Finals Week Care Package to a FinnU Student

Finlandia’s Campus Ministry is asking for donations to send current students a Finals Week Care Package during their final exams at the end of the month. Giving Tuesday Brings in Over $62,000 for Student Scholarships

Finlandia University is excited to announce it’s 2019 Giving Tuesday. Over 115 donors helped raise $62,403.25 for student scholarships.

“We are beyond thrilled by the generosity of our donors and their continued support of Giving Tuesday,” Director of Marketing and Communications Olivia Myers said. “We set a lofty goal on the day and our donors stepped up to provide our students with scholarships for the next semester.”

Scholarships Created Through Harju Gift, FAHC Director Position Endowed

Onni and Dorothea Harju

Finlandia University has received one of its most significant endowment gifts to date from the estate of Onni and Dorothea Harju.

Like many other Finnish American men, Onni grew up on a farm with very humble beginnings. Through his lifetime of hard work and investment – which included growing Christmas trees on the Red Granite, Wisconsin farmland – Onni planted his strong Finnish roots by investing in the future.

Donors Can Double their Gift for FinnU Student Scholarships on Giving Tuesday

Finlandia University hopes to raise $75,000 for student scholarships on Giving Tuesday which takes place on December 3. Finlandia donors can double their gifts this Giving Tuesday, as the university will again have a matching incentive. Board of Trustees President Julie Badel has agreed to match all donations dollar-for-dollar that are raised, up to $20,000, for the second year in a row.

Giving Day Brings in $8,945 for Student Textbooks

In February of 2019, the Finlandia Alumni Board (FAB) determined it wanted to give back to current students in a meaningful way. The FAB, led by president Monica Hill (’76), ultimately decided to raise funds to support a Textbook Award, to be given out in the form of a gift certificate to North Wind Books to help offset the rising cost of textbooks. The Finlandia Alumni Board will host a Giving Day to celebrate everything Finlandia University on June 19-20. The day, which will begin on June 19 at 8 am and run until noon on June 20, will feature social media challenges, downloadable games, information on alumni volunteer opportunities, and a fundraiser to raise money for Textbook Awards for students this fall.

Finlandia donors can triple their gifts made on Giving Tuesday thanks to two matches

Finlandia donors can triple their gifts this Giving Tuesday, as the university will have two matching incentives:

A member of the Board of Trustees has agreed to match all donations dollar for dollar that are made on Giving Tuesday, up to $20,000.

Finlandia is also participating in Facebook’s Giving Tuesday program, in which they will match the first $7 million donated that day.
