FinnU TRIO SSS Grant Renewed for $1.7M Over 5 Years

The U.S. Department of Education announced that Finlandia University’s TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) grant program will be renewed for $1,705,835 over five years to help more students succeed in and graduate from college. Finlandia Prepares for Fall 2020

Students are making their way back to Finlandia’s campus for the Fall 2020 semester. As the university prepares to welcome approximately 400 students, new protocols and practices are being enforced to help mitigate the spread of Covid-19 on campus and in the Keweenaw community.

North Wind Books Now Taking Online Textbook Orders

North Wind Books is making purchasing textbooks a lot easier and safer for students this year. Due to Covid-19, North Wind Books has implemented a new way for students to order books that will limit their time spent inside the bookstore. Finlandia University is proud to announce its Spring 2020 semester Dean’s and Honors List Students. In total 139 students earned honors, including 89 who earned Dean’s List honors for having a Grade Point Average of 3.75 or above.

To be eligible for either list students must have completed 12 or more credit hours and have no grade below a “C.” Dean’s List students earned a GPA of 3.75 or above, while Honors List students had a GPA between 3.50 and 3.749. [...]

Alumni Mentor Program provides valuable opportunity for students and alumni

Finlandia TRIO students have the opportunity to learn from those who have graduated before them thanks to the new Alumni Mentor Program.

The Alumni Mentor Program is available for all TRIO students, regardless of year. Alumni and students are paired by TRIO advisors with the help of Olivia Myers, Coordinator of External Relations, based off shared interests.

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) has three goals: help students persist from one grade level to the next, remain in satisfactory academic progress and graduate with a bachelor’s degree.
