Nordic Film Series to celebrate Estonia’s centennial

January 10, 2018

Fresh off a year of celebrating Finland’s centennial of independence, the Finnish American Heritage Center isn’t quite done celebrating 100-year anniversaries.

This month’s Nordic Film Series feature of “The Fencer,” which is set in Estonia, will include a pair of special guests to help the FAHC honor Estonia’s 100th anniversary of independence. The movie will be shown twice on Thursday, January 11, at both 2 and 6 p.m.

At both the 2 and 6 p.m. showings, local Estonian-American Marianne Brokaw will offer brief remarks about Estonia, which some consider to be a “cousin” country to Finland. Fellow Estonian-American Avelin Yost will also be on hand to share more about her home nation’s culture and history.
