Student Spotlight: Chris Beyer, Sports Management

Good things come to those who wait. For 21-year-old freshman Chris Beyer, that meant waiting for the right college. 

Beyer, a sports management major from Appleton, Wis. spent his first three years out of high school playing junior hockey in Minnesota. Finlandia University plans for return to in-person instruction for fall 2021

Finlandia University has announced its plans to return to in-person instruction for the Fall 2021.

Throughout the 2020-21 academic year, the university has provided a safe living and learning environment with a blend of multiple course delivery modalities and robust health and safety policies. These policies have followed local, state and federal guidance and regulations that have kept positive cases down and controlled community  spread.

Diversity Dinner transforms into week-long event for 2021

The annual Diversity Dinner event is undergoing changes this year due to COVID-19 considerations. In lieu of occurring on one day, the event will be spread across the entire week of March 15-19. Students are supplying the Dining Services staff with recipes and then the staff will prepare the food, highlighting one culture every evening.

Student Nurses Association Hosting Blood Drive March 25

The Finlandia University Student Nurses Association (FUSNA) will be hosting a Blood Drive on March 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Matthew. Donors will go to the Chapel to complete paperwork and check vital signs before donating in the bloodmobile, which will be parked in the Old Main parking lot. 

The FUSNA is partnering with UP Health Systems Regional Blood Center to sponsor the event.

Applications Now Being Accepted for Virginia Fund Scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for the Virginia Fund Scholarship, which is open to all freshman women at Finlandia University. The scholarship, typically $250-500 is awarded based on academic achievement and contribution to campus life. Applications will be reviewed by the Academic Achievement Committee and the winner will be announced in the coming weeks. The Virginia Fund Scholarship will be applied to the 2021-22 academic year.
